This is the Renault R-8, the car for you disillusioned millions who think today’s compacts aren’t compact in size or price. It’s the world’s most advanced compact car. You could pay 00 and still not get what the R-8 offers at less than 00.
The Renault R-8 is truly compact in size and price. 4-wheel disc brakes are standard on the R-8. (No American car comes with them.) Self-adjusting, they won’t grab or fade.
It has more headroom than other compacts, childproof locks, 4-wheel independent suspension, the world’s first sealed liquid cooling system. You don't add water or antifreeze.
It’s five main bearings curb wear, repair. 6 metal coatings on trim halt rust. Pleated vinyl seats highlight its beauty and comfort. Its up to 37 mpg is the economical end.

No wet-weather brake trouble with this car, the new Renault R-8: It has 4-wheel disc brakes. 16 safety features in all make it the car you want for your family.
    1.
No American car at any price comes with 4-wheel disc brakes. Racing cars have them. So do imported luxury cars that cost ,000. So does the new Renault R-8. It costs 95.* It doesn't matter how often or how long you brake an R-8. Its self-adjusting 4-wheel disc brakes won't distort or fade. And in the wettest weather, our 4-wheel disc brakes won't grab or pull. It's a wonderful feeling, this confident feeling an R-8 gives you, and doubly so when your children are playing or sleeping on the back seat.
    2.
You drive more safely when you see more. A fact: The R-8 has more than 27 square feet of window area. From the driver’s seat, and without stretching a neck muscle, you can see the car's two front fenders, and through the rearview mirror, you can see the two back fenders. The front windows are fully operable and run the full width of their doors so you have unobstructed views on both sides of the car. There is one form of transportation that lets you see more. But sometimes it doesn't open when you pull the rip cord.
    3.
Maneuverability is an important safety feature, isn't it? The Renault R-8 is more maneuverable than any Detroit car. The R-8 turns a full circle in only 33.5 feet. More
direct steering is another R-8 advantage. 3% turns and the R-8’s steering wheel turns lock to lock. Some Detroit cars require 5 turns or more. Because about 35% fewer turns are needed to maneuver the R-8, you'll be able to get out of tight spots faster, with less spinning and greater safety. (Did we forget to say that it makes the Renault R-8 much more fun to drive?)
    4.
Do you have children? Think about this. The Renault R-8 comes with childproof safety locks on the rear doors. The back seat becomes a snug haven where they can sleep or scuffle. Padded door panels and recessed door handles provide an extra measure of safety.
    5.
The Renault R-8 is softly (but firmly) sprung on 4 individual coils and each coil is supplemented by an air-filled rubber buffer. This engineering feature permits the R-8 to adjust itself to a level position when it's heavily loaded. 4-wheel independent suspension also means that each wheel is well able to handle its share of bumps without passing them on to you or to the rest of the car. Result: better control at the wheel and on the road, particularly at high turnpike speeds.
    6.
The R-8’s rear-engine traction also means you have better control of your car in the
snow or rain. It means better control, too, in sand or mud. A 4-speed box (3 top speeds synchromesh) gives you the right gear for every driving situation, in any weather.
7.8.9.10.11.12.13.14.15. If you bought another car, how much extra would you pay for these safety features? They're standard equipment on the R-8. A dished steering wheel. A padded dash panel. Windshield washers. Padded sun visors. Recessed interior door handles. Rustproofing. Electric windshield wipers. Bumper guards. Windshield defrosters.
    16. Another kind of safety feature: expert service, to keep your car in the best running condition. Renault owners receive service by Renault-trained technicians. Renault Dealers (there are now more than 500 of them) keep a complete parts inventory on hand so they can give you the prompt service you deserve. Your nearby Renault Dealer can give you full details on Renault’s new service program. He can give you a dozen more reasons why you should consider the Renault R-8 for your family.
