    Description

So you’ve got this absolutely beautiful Hammond Multiplex, Folding Model 26, Model 12, Model 2 or Model 1, and you’re very proud of it. It is gorgeous, and best of all, it functions well. That hammer slams right up against the type, making letters on paper. One small problem. If you don’t have an impression strip between the hammer and the type, the letter is not going look as it should, and you are damaging the type every time you slam it with the spring-loaded hammer.
DO NOT TYPE ON A HAMMOND WITHOUT THE IMPRESSION STRIP IN PLACE!
    NOTICE:
Please don't leave me a message on PayPal with your measurements! With eBay's new payment policy, I won't get any messages left on PayPal.
    PLEASE NOTE:
You need to tell me the measurements of your machine before I can make your strip! Please see below...
The impression strip is a long thin piece of rubber, with one or two eyelets on each end, which fits over the pins placed on the machine for just that purpose. Different models have one or two pins. These strips soften the blow on the type, and are necessary for the proper use of a Hammond. They are also wear items, so they’re pretty much worn out, broken, and probably completely missing on your machine. You need a new one. And you probably don’t want to buy or sell a Hammond without one in place, unless you are aware of it in advance, and it’s well noted in the description.
Each impression strip I sell is custom made to fit your machine. Most Hammond pins are 10 3/4", 9 7/8" or 9 1/4" apart. My Multiplex Folding Model 26 has two pins on each end (as pictured), and the pins are 9 1/4” (236mm) apart. But Hammonds may have any configuration; they were a very funky company. For instance, your Multiplex might not really be one, but a rebuilt Model 12. Who knows what odd things they did? Please let me know what your machine is like when you buy.
Two questions: how far apart are the pins (measured across the machine!), and how many pins on each side (one or two).
I’ll make you the one you need.
    BY THE WAY:
Don't be confused by my 300 or so listings. Practically every one of those listings was for a gorgeous, functional 1940s or prior typewriter, a typewriter ribbon, a recovered platen, or a Hammond typewriter impression strip. Vintage and antique typers are what I do, and you can be assured they are done very well.
PS: We will ship our impression strips anywhere in the world. If eBay says otherwise, please send us a message.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I can ship multiple strips for the same shipping fee as just one. If you pay shipping for more than one strip, I will refund the difference. I don't make money on shipping!
Thanks for looking, and enjoy your Hammond!
